Welcome!

Autumn time is film festival time and it all kicks off in October: from 15.-20.10. the dokumentART film festival will celebrate its 28th edition!

With over 80 international documentaries, short feature films and animations, dokumentART – films and future is one of the most important cultural events for both the city of Neubrandenburg and the entire region. This year focusses not just on film art but also on future issues and environmental sustainability in particular.

With an international competition, special programmes, discussions, kids’ and youth events, as well as perspectives on eastern European filmmaking, visitors can once again expect a broad spectrum of inspiring films from dokumentART that encourage us to deal with pressing social issues.
We are thrilled to welcome you (back) as festival guests and look forward to some exciting film-filled days in Neubrandenburg in October!

Zukunftstreff

As a new project under the roof of the dokumentART - films & future European Filmfestival, the Zukunftstreff picks up the audience where the pulse of the festival strikes - with the films. In a workshop series consisting of five events, we want to actively and collectively deal with the questions that the festival raises every year with its film programme:Based on films from the last festival years, programmes will be developed that have an intensive connection to acute questions of shaping the future in the region and are therefore important for the people HERE.

Rural exodus, services of general interest in rural areas, cultural education, sustainable agriculture, the environment and participation in democracy are just some of the topics that will be the focus of the Future Workshop 2019.

The films serve as catalysts for communication, but the focus is on the audience. Film talks, short technical presentations and participative formats provide an overview of the needs, thoughts and visions of the people in the region.

Based on questions, positions and ideas, solutions will be discussed together: How can the rural exodus be stopped? Is a balance between industrial and ecological agriculture possible? How can active shaping of life in rural areas be successful? How can generations learn from each other? How does a feeling of "togetherness" develop? What can art and culture contribute to this? Does democracy only have something to do with elections?Together with filmmakers, guests from politics, science, culture and industry, in active participation formats, panels and public discussions, theme-focused events create a space for discussion in which exchange at eye level, networking and room for new options to act take place.
