On a unique campus in Ludwigsburg which is home to the film academy, its animation institute, the postgraduate programme Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris, as well as the neighbouring Academy of Performing Arts, students benefit from a broad interdisciplinary and transmedial network. The teaching philosophy includes a strong practical focus through more than 300 experts from the film and media industry, working in mixed teams from the first semester on, as well as close industry contacts including numerous television stations, streaming services and regional film funding bodies.
An international approach is becoming increasingly important, for example through exchange programmes with renowned partner universities on five continents. A special teaching programme with English-language modules has also been developed for international exchange students.
