In our family programme, we present eight international short film submissions, which have been produced almost exclusively using non-verbal narrative techniques. The genres of the films range from documentary formats to animated works. Current social topics such as migration, social media use, the pressure to perform at school and processing the past are dealt with in a manner suitable for children. Films without many words offer exciting opportunities to tell stories and let the images speak for themselves.
This is demonstrated perfectly by this selection from our international programme, which is aimed at festival visitors in general but also particularly at younger residents of Neubrandenburg and the wider region. With these films, we also want kids in particular to engage with a media genre that they are all too rarely exposed to in their daily lives. The filmmakers themselves will also be in attendance for a Q&A after the screenings.
