The dokumentART festival is now in its 28th year, making it just one year younger than the Cultural Film Fund of Mecklenburg- Western Pomerania, which is managed by the Film Office MV in Wismar. This funding provided the foundation for a film infrastructure within the state. It cultivates and maintains this structure and supports projects by local and international filmmakers, films shot in our federal state, as well as productions by young filmmakers from the rest of Germany. Traditionally, there has been a strong focus on documentary film in all its forms. Co-fundings have become a possibility through networking with all other German film funds, as well as enabling many other possibilities for support and partnerships, thus establishing Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as an important hub for filmmaking.
Filmbüro MV also organises and manages the cinematic heritage of the federal state in the Landesfilmarchiv. The states’ Cultural Film Fund is once again represented at the renowned festival in the high north-east with the impressive, mustsee production BEAUTY & DECAY by Annekatrin Hendel. The traditional MV programme block has enjoyed great popularity for many years and showcases a small section of the local film scene’s diverse work. You’re in for a surprise!
