There has never been a forest fire like it in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Authorities are calling it the largest in the history of the federal state. The region has been put on disaster alert and four villages have been evacuated. Firefighters try to reach the source of the fire with tanks. For days, the fire brigade, Bundeswehr and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief battle the fire with a task force of more than 4,000 people. Then, finally, the fire is under control.
