To the annoyance of the bearded hermit, his left eye goes off on its own. It begins with manual dexterity to build his own wooden cabin. And then comes the flood. It comes in the form of a lonely tear, which the hermit sheds over a squirrel he killed. And it comes in the form of a forest fire that ultimately destroys almost everything. The hermit cannot save his own eye either.
