Welcome to Erewhon

In Samuel Butler's novel Erewhon from 1972, the inhabitants of Erewhon become afraid of machines developing in a similar way to biological evolution, which could spell the end of their autonomy and superiority. They therefore decide to destroy and ban all machines. But what would Erewhon have looked like had the machines been able to develop in such a way? The film takes this thought experiment to the extreme and shows a city in which machines act autonomously, reproduce themselves, and where humans solely busy with achieving their own personal happiness.
